And no, not a toilet flush...
Roll back that tape people.
High school. When you make changes to your life, some incredibly stupid, others incredibly genius. For me, it was when I began to wear makeup. Now, when I say makeup, I mean the bare minimum, literally it was just Bare Minerals (hah! See what I did there?!!). Anyways, I wore the Bare Minerals powder foundation along with their Mineral Veil. And that was it. No blush, no bronzer, nothing else.
After some time of just doing my face makeup and calling it a day, my clever and concise sister told me, "You look really pale, put some blush on or something." So I dug into our little Ulta kit thing (those sets that they come out with every season that has a little bit of everything in it, blush, bronzer, eyeshadow, etc) and used the little, flat, flimsy brush (the horror!) that came with it and put on some blush. And that, my friends, was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
And now, I will attempt to describe them to you.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Luminous Flush
A champagne-y rose. A bit more pink-y than coral-y. It's quite pigmented, so I suggest using a light hand when applying. It gives a pretty sheen, and since it has the highlighter charmingly swirled in, surprise! You don't need to use a highlighter! Unless you want to, of course. And in that case, highlight your heart out.
Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Blissful
My "my cheeks/face but better" blush. My go-to. A "shimmering warm peach" as described by Sephora, but to me, it seems matte. But not a yuck matte. It gives more of a natural looking color and finish to the skin and stays put for quite a long time. Also, you can build it up to the intensity of your choosing. The name implies it will stay on for 12 hours, but I've never actually put that to the test. I love this formula and plan to invest in a few more shades.
Nars Orgasm Blush
A cult classic. Also, one of my favorites, but who am I kidding, I love all these blushers. It's a very wearable peachy-pink that has just enough shimmer in it that it actually shows up, but doesn't make you look like a disco ball. Personally, I think this shade will work on anyone.
Dior Rosy Glow Healthy Glow Awakening Blush 01 Petal
OMG. This is beautiful. It smells like roses. Though the color in the pan may look frightening, it most definitely is not. It has this wondrous magic or something in it that adjusts to your skin's natural chemistry to create a color that is unique to you. It's totally awesome because no matter your skin tone, it will work for you. I save it for special occasions because it's just super prits.
Milani Baked Powder Blush in Luminoso
A sheen-y coral. The formulation of this one reminds me quite a bit of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting blushes but not exactly. Love the gold-y sheen it gives and again, it looks super natural on.
Any other amazing blushes I should try? Let me know!
xo, Navshin
